Big Ten athletic contracts value team performance more than academic success

During the fall semester of my junior year, I was The Lantern's investigative reporter. The biggest project I worked on was an analysis of the athletic and academic incentives coaches in the Big Ten Conference have in their contracts. Using public-records requests, I examined 234 contracts and found that nearly two out of every three coaches do not have academic performance incentives.
